BV6: WHAT CAN WE HOPE FOR?

Psalm 121 tells us "God guards you from every evil, he guards your very life" . It is so easy to misinterpret that to mean he will guard our body and then conclude that scripture is  baloney cuz good people die.

Our life is what we do with our mind and soul which may or may not involve our body. The body is only a machine that works or doesn't. Our life is what we do with it and much more - how we respond to circumstances, challenges and opportunities, relational, environmental and spiritual.

That may seem like splitting hairs but I am confident that is what God means. A life surrendered to Jesus becomes eternal and will be protected as long as it is following His leadership. God will intervene with grace and mercy to enable us to be in the center of his will and plan. That may involve healing parts of our body or all of it or it may not. The body is not his top priority, our life is! So my hunch is we best FOCUS on what we are doing with our lives. 

We may end up in a lions den called cancer. How he enables us while in the den will become part of His good plan which we may or may not understand. What He intends to accomplish IN US and in those watching around us is part of a bigger plan than what we get to see now. Our bodies may get some care along the way but not always and never for ever. All bodies invariably deteriorate, die and rot. Our spirits become eternal and we get new bodies.(II Cor 5)

The paraplegics, blind and deaf all have lives. Some of them are richer, more profoundly meaningful lives than many people with fully functional bodies. So can you irrespective of the cancer attack on your body.  It is your LIFE that matters most to you - and those around you, and to  the Lord. He will guide and guard it if you let Him. That is something we can count on, Hope for and  wait for....with breathless expectation!  

But not everyone can do that. Only the one's with PEE - personal experiential evidence that Jesus is who He says He is, and keeps His promises ----evidence that lets them really believe Heaven is what He says it is.
