9 - SO WHAT SEPARATES WINDRUNNERS FROM OTHER CHRISTIANS

WHAT SEPARATES WINDRUNNERS FROM THE REST

PETER -“I‘ve met God but I don’t have the peace that you are describing? What is so different about these so called Windrunners and how did they do better?” queried a man with salt and pepper hair in a grey pin striped suit, polished cap-toed shoes and a newly diagnosed kidney cancer.

I replied that it seemed that Irrespective of where they were on the track the Windrunners awakened to yet another sunrise and saw it as a gift - as evidence that Jesus still has plans for them on this side of eternity even in spite of cancer – maybe even something for which the cancer would uniquely prepare them. And they saw it this way because they really seem to know Him, not just know about Him – and more than that, they really seemed to trust Him.

I would always hesitate to say that, because the usual patient response spoken with their eyes if not their words was “yea sure doc, but what about the cancer? “ With that rejoinder I would counter with “It’s all about the cancer so hang with me. Let’s take it one step at a time.”

The ability to trust God unconditionally in their darkest, scariest and most vulnerable situations and then to wait for Him to speak, lead or act seems to be a universal characteristic of Windrunners. But how did they get to the place where they could do that? Did they have to become passive? Did their lives have to become dull and boring without dreams or passions? Did they need to surrender being themselves?
