It is all about FOCUS. That is what it takes. Faith/trust in God is elementary but focus on His promises is essential. To doubt is human. We are given a critical, analytical mind which produces learning and safety but also skepticism. So how does one live in that tension of skeptical trust? It is a matter of FOCUS.
It is a choice. Will our focus be on all our doubts - all the scary "What Ifs" that ole red legs would love to use to control us or will we choose to focus on God's never changing promises that liberate us. Here are four of those promises:
God’s love for you is unchanging - “For the mountains may move, and the hills disappear, but even then, my faithful love for you will remain” (Isaiah 54:10 NLT).
God is always with you - “Since God assured us, “I’ll never let you down, never walk off and leave you,” we can boldly quote, God is there, ready to help; I’m fearless no matter what. Who or what can get to me?” (Hebrews 13:5 The Message)
God hears your prayers - “I am the one who answers your prayers and cares for you. I am like a tree that is always green; all your fruit comes from me.” (Hosea 14:8 NIV)
God made you to serve - “For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
The more we can recall our own personal experiential evidences of God having shown up in our lives the easier it will be to make that choice to trust. Start now : Pray, listen, watch, wait, walk, remember, recount - collect your PEE. Then you can focus on feeling "OK God You Got This" and then rest is the shadow of the Most High:
Psalm 91:1 New International Version (NIV)
1 Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High
will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.[a]
